Baptist (this part is the third rail, untouchable)
Convention (Convention/schmonvention, whatever, who cares?)
Any made up, fake words would be unacceptable, e.g., LifeWay, GuideStone, LeaderCare.
Need I say that meaningless terms (e.g. "Cru") would not be acceptable.
This leaves small minds like mine with a fairly limited set of options. So, use the designer below by choosing one from the first group. Combine that with "Baptist" and then choose one from the third group. Creative options would add prepositions and jumble the order of the three terms.
Have at it.

Toss out the stuff already employed and the list narrows considerably. I welcome additional adjectives and nouns.

Global Baptist Network - probably too broad
Baptist Resource Fellowship - doubt it but who knows.
No more brain waves wanting to think about this, for now.
Well, Baptist churches are highly autonomous, so "Confederacy" might be appropriate for an organization of Baptists.
And I assume people (at least the ones not cowed into being ashamed of being Southern) want to change the "Southern" part to give the organization a more universal-sounding name. Many would also like to convey that we are the correct group to belong to. I suggest "Supreme."
Supreme Baptist Confederacy would allow us to keep the SBC initials, and I think it might convey what the name-change faction are looking for... except they might find "Confederacy" suggestive.
How about Supreme Baptist Congress?
In seriousness, if their name were the Northern Baptist Convention, do you think there would be so much agitation to change the name?
There is a NBC. If they had visions of not being regional, or if they were like the SBC and found that the geographic descriptor in their name was a hindrance, I'd bet they would change it.
Supreme Baptist Confederacy is a hoot.
Galactic Baptist Fellowship ... and we would incorporate flannel board into the process of communicating said name change.
Actually I meant "Galactic Baptist Federation" ... it is more space age.
Just saw this posted on Twitter... check out our SBC Name Suggestion website: http://sbctaskforce.com/ -- I think you'll get a few good chuckles at some of those suggestions :).
I'm campaigning for Assemblies of Evangelical Baptists.
The problem, Blake, is that most of the terms I put up have issues.
"Assemblies" too much like Assembly of God.
"Evangelical" has some baggage.
Thanks for the thought, though.
How about "Kingdom Global Baptists" or KGB.
