Atlanta the home of the country's worst and most Cheatin' Edumacators...

Atlanta is clearly the mecca for cheatin' educators due to the investigation that revealed that hundreds of teachers, dozens of principals, assistant principals and higher administrators, in dozens of Atlanta public schools cheated. The EDUCATORS, not the students did the cheating and that deliberately, systematically, repeatedly, brazenly, and sometimes openly.

Google the words "cheating" and "Atlanta" and go from there.

Teachers took the completed tests, erased wrong answers and filled in right answers. Simple, low tech. Kids score better. Schools score better. Administrators get bonuses.

Some jaw-dropping examples:

Principal holds cheating pizza party on weekends. Teachers bring the score sheets and erase between mouthfuls of pepperoni.

Principal enlists teacher who knows how to remove the tests from the sealed packets and reseal them.

Administrator picks lock of the office of the employee who is responsible for securing the completed tests.

Wholesale intimidation of whistleblowers and non-cheating compliant teachers.

The-buck-don't-stop-here, sez the Superintendent who received national Supt. of the Year award, based on the falsified data and who also received hundreds of thousands of dollars in performance bonuses. See no evil. Hear no evil. Speak no evil. Cash those checks. To heck with the school children.

This is not merely moral decay by rogue educators but about as complete and systemic a moral and ethical failure as one could imagine.

Too bad for the kids.

Look for the cheaters to wrap themselves in victimhood and blame it all on Bush and No Child Left Behind.

Pathetic.

Cheatin', singin', fussin' and fumin'...

Analysis of Atlanta area public schools standardized tests shows that erasures of answers is down from about 10% last year to around 3% this year. What happened? Eraser shortage? Smarter, more confident student test takers? Nope. They caught teachers and administrators doing most of the erasing last year, cheating on the tests. Teachers aren’t cheating this year.

Auburn University paid about $170,000 in lawyer fees over their star quarterback Cam Newton’s case. Pooh! Chump change to get a national championship. Money talks, and often ethics walks, in big time college football.

File this under Go Figure: An Atlanta woman driving a car with an handicap tag was fussed at for parking in a regular grocery store parking space. She was told she shouldn’t take up a regular space if she was handicapped.

Wanted: Someone to sing our National Anthem. Must know the words, be willing to sing and be done with it in a reasonable amount of time and then sit down and shut up. Singers whose style declares that ‘it’s all about me’ need not apply.

The state of Mississippi is considering a commemorative tag for one of the Civil War’s outstanding Confederate generals, Nathan Bedford Forrest. Oh yeah, Forrest was connected with the Ku Klux Klan. Opponents suggest that a tag be designed with a hooded figure in the center. This ought to be fun.

President Obama has stopped smoking. Good for him. I guess this means, though, that he will never be one of those Baptist men who stand just outside the door of a SBC church and make churchgoers pass through a cloud of smoke to get inside.

Have a nice weekend.

Spam can be good, Chic-Fil-A can be annoying...et al

Helpful spam: A suicide bomber in Moscow was killed last New Year’s Eve when the explosives she was wearing went off prematurely. Seems that the bomb had a cell phone trigger, a phone call to her cell explodes the bomb, and she got the phone call while in a ‘safe’ house, not in the location or at the time to kill the maximum number of innocent people. The phone call was a text, a Happy New Year message from her cell provider – a spam text if you will. Best spam message ever sent. BTW, the woman was a member of a radical Islamic terrorist group, a detail you will not learn from our MSM because it would be politically incorrect.

Unrest in Egypt is troubling. One bright spot: When looters attacked one of the world’s truly great museums, the splendid, incomparable Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, from among the Egyptian protesters materialized a human chain at the museum's front gate to prevent looters from making off with any of its priceless artifacts. The idea of the gold mask of King Tutankhamen, perhaps archaeology’s most recognizable artifact, or his solid gold coffin being damaged or stolen is unthinkable.

Is anyone else mildly annoyed that the workers at Chic-Fil-A are so nice and helpful?

No joke. A kid in Atlanta was arrested for stealing his sister’s stuff. His name? Devious. If parents are going to make up names for their kids they should be required to consult a dictionary.

Also in the Atlanta area, school cheating scandal continues. Nope. Not the students but teachers and principals. The latest involved a principal who kicked the dumber kids out of the school days before critical testing and re-enrolled them days after.

Have a nice weekend.

Jim Morrison, GuideStone, Turandot, and cheatin' teachers

Got a nice Christmas e-card from GuideStone, about three weeks before I get to pay an additional 25% for health insurance. Merry Christmas indeed.

Jim Morrison, long dead bad boy rocker of my generation who had those sensual lips that belied a very nice singing voice, is to be pardoned. I happened to be in Miami, site of his offense, when the thing went down. Local people my age were outraged about on stage antics that wouldn't raise an eyebrow today. Pardon/schmardon, who cares? Tourism at his Paris grave site will be steady regardless.

Incidentally, both Morrison and Elvis are in the porcelain hall-of-fame, the former dying in a bathtub and the latter on a toilet. They say drugs were involved...

Teachers, great numbers of them, are caught blatantly cheating in Atlanta. They did so to raise their students' test scores. Concerned Black Clergy of Atlanta come out with predictable outrage and concern. The concern is for the cheaters, not the cheated.

Sorry to read of the death December 3rd of Hughes Cuenod (no, neither you nor I can pronounce it right), notable singer. Debuted at the Met at the age of 84 in the opera Turandot, one of my favorites complete with torture, suicide but a happy ending. He was 108 and started his career as a concert singer in 1928. Egad.

After almost three decades as a pastor I achieved a first recently. No, I wasn't elected to a denominational position or trusteeship or hired for a nice denominational job...but I did bring in one of our senior adult's laundry. Oh, the woes and pressures of being a pastor. Nobody knows how hard it is. Hey, give me a sabbatical!

Sad to read of Elizabeth Edwards death. Headshakingly sad to understand that the phrase, "she survived her husband's infidelity" is in the lead paragraph of stories that report her death.

Cam Newton will win the Heisman. Bets are on how long he gets to keep it.

Sharia, Stars, Grumpy, Cheating Teachers, and Cam Newton

Scientists now say that there are three times more stars in the universe than previously thought. That gets the number up to the neighborhood of 300,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 or so. If I missed a zero, who’s counting? And I’m with Carl Sagan here. With that many stars and untold numbers of planets, there has to be life elsewhere. We are still discovering God’s creation, no?

Our patriotic Oklahomans, striking a blow against Sharia law, did they, by passing a law that bars Oklahoma courts from considering Shariah law when deciding cases? "Go for it," say some commentators, and, while you're are at it, pass a law against pink unicorns pooping in Oklahoma parks. Both have the same level of significance in the Sooner state, says Leonard Pitts Gotta love the guy for the way he puts it.

A Brazilian clown, “Grumpy”, was elected to the Brazilian congress with 1.3 million votes. Opponents sued to have him disqualified, asserting that he cannot read or write. Good news for Grumpy. A judge says he’s just fine, can read and write, and is approved to serve. Plodder’s News Flash for Brazilians: Being able to read and write does not a decent legislator make. Take a look at the US Congress.

Four US banks received loans from the Fed of over a TRILLION dollars each. Egad. Can you create money out of thin air? Indeed you can.

Big cheating scandal in Atlanta public schools. “Expel or fail the students,” you might say? Nope. The teachers were doing the cheating and not one or two rogue ones, over a hundred. They deliberately changed students’ answers, gave them correct answers and other methods of cheating on the important CRCT tests. Predictably, some blame the testing system saying that the teachers were compelled to cheat...and we expect these students to learn just what from this?

Cam Newton is innocent. Sure. And my three cats just flew over the moon.
